About the Texas OCD Group:

Our OCD support group welcomes anyone in Texas experiencing symptoms of OCD. Whether you’re just starting or already on your therapy path, this is the place to find understanding and camaraderie.

Format and Schedule:

We hold virtual meetings via Zoom, providing a safe and confidential space for discussion. The group convenes on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 6 pm. These meetings last approximately one hour.

Meeting Structure:

The meeting begins with a brief time for members to log on, connect, and set up. As a group, we participate in a mindfulness exercise, utilizing a shared video to help ease into the session and let go of daily stressors. Afterward, we delve into the main topic or focus for the meeting. Members are encouraged to ask questions and raise topics of interest. If anyone feels hesitant, they are welcome to email the leader beforehand with their topics, ideas or questions. We maintain a list of past and future discussion topics, ensuring everyone’s preferences are considered.

Encouraging Participation:

Every member’s input is valued, and active participation is highly encouraged. Towards the end of each meeting, we focus on setting SMART goals. These goals can be unrelated to OCD and may revolve around any area of personal importance. Some examples of SMART goals from past participants include drinking 3 bottles of water daily, walking 3 times a week, or practicing mindfulness at least once a day.

Joining the Group:

Our support group operates on an open basis, allowing new members to join throughout the year. You have the flexibility to attend as many or as few meetings as you like, and you can join at any time.

If you’re seeking understanding, support, and the opportunity to connect with others who understand what you’re going through, our OCD support group is here to welcome you. To express interest and receive the Zoom link for the next meeting, please contact us at ocdsupport@hcfvl.com. We look forward to meeting you!
