You open the mail and your heart sinks — another baby shower invitation. When will it be your turn? The pregnancy you longed for and finally achieved, the child you already loved, is suddenly gone. Your family member dies, and somehow you’re expected to keep functioning. You move through the days in a fog, wondering how to carry this pain, how to begin to heal. You don’t have to find those answers alone.

My name is Allison, and I specialize in grief support and reproductive mental health counseling.

My practice has a special focus on supporting individuals and couples navigating infertility, pregnancy loss, and the many paths to parenthood. My own journey has included infertility, two pregnancy losses, and the experience of growing my family with the help of a gestational carrier. These personal experiences have given me a deep understanding of the emotional complexity of reproductive grief, hope, and resilience — and they continue to shape my dedication to walking alongside others on similar paths with warmth and deep empathy.

I also work with clients facing grief and loss in its many forms. Following the death of my sibling, I came to understand how loss reshapes us — and how healing is not about “moving on,” but learning to move forward while remembering the one you lost. I bring that perspective into my work, offering a compassionate, steady presence for those who are grieving.

In addition, I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and enjoy helping clients develop healthier relationships with sleep. I view rest as an essential part of emotional healing and overall wellbeing, and I approach sleep concerns with both practical tools and gentle curiosity.

When we meet, I want to truly get to know you — your story, your strengths, and what you’re hoping will feel different. We’ll talk about what’s working, where you feel stuck, and what kind of support feels right for you. My goal is to offer a space where you can be real and vulnerable without judgment, and where our work leads to genuine, lasting change. You matter, and your growth matters to me.

Education, Mental Health Experience, & About Me

My clinical experience includes counseling students and alumni at the University of Houston–Downtown and working with children, parents, and young adults at The Conative Group. Before becoming a mental health counselor, I built a diverse professional background in public relations, elementary education, and the travel industry — experiences that deepened my understanding of communication, learning, and the many ways people seek connection and meaning in their lives. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. I am a National Certified Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, supervised by Christen Sistrunk, LPC-S.

Outside of my work, I love spending time with my husband, our daughter, and our dogs, as well as connecting with friends. I also enjoy reading, exercising, practicing yoga, hiking, traveling, and volunteering in the Houston community.

Do You Accept Insurance?

I am an out of network provider for insurance. This means that I do not accept insurance. Some insurance companies will reimburse you a percentage of the session fee. This depends on your specific insurance plan and deductible. Please call your insurance company (number on the back of your card) to ask about your out of network mental health benefits.
